Christmas Is Coming!

And just like that it’s almost Christmas! Between Thanksgiving falling late and my trip to Tampa and Chicago, I am way behind on my to-do list, but Christmas is coming, ready or not.

I love this neighbor’s garage lights—the snowman dances!

Christmas Is Coming

I don’t regret my weekend in Tampa visiting friends and seeing my mother-in-law, but I did miss my annual bake-a-thon since that was the only weekend every one else could get together. 😕 That meant I had to do a solo bake-a-thon this weekend. It wasn’t as fun or as productive, but I made my eggnog wreaths, ginger spice cookies, and a batch of pecan bars.

I think I’ll go back to green sugar sprinkles next year.

There is gold sugar everywhere!

Un-cut pecan bars—I sprinkled chopped peans over
the pecan halves for extra-goodness.

I still want to make cranberry sauce and cranberry coffee cake—and apple pie for Christmas dinner. ‘Tis the season!

We had an Ugly Sweater party at the office, so I got to break out my $7 thrift store gem.

Facebook tells me I wore it 10 years ago!

I think the front is quite lovely, but the back has an unfortunate plaid pattern that takes it down from classic to questionable. 🤭

Weekly Run Down

The weather was all over the place this week. It was bitter cold through Tuesday (in the teens) so I didn’t even take Scooby out before I jumped on my treadmill. By Friday it was freakishly warm—60F at 5 am!—and I wore shorts for a 4 mile dark o’clock run.

The next morning winter was back and I bundled up for a 30F run with Scooby on Saturday.

I hit two big Peloton milestones this week: I took my 3500th strength class on Sunday and hit my 2000th consecutive day streak on Thursday.

No badge, but I’ve been looking forward to  this day!

I also finished Crush Your Core 3. I’m not gonna lie, it got hard at the end.

I might repeat Week 1 again in January

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

That dancing snowman would totally distract me on every run!
Solo bake-a-thon or not, those eggnog wreaths and pecan bars look amazing! Love the gold sugar touch. 😂
Congrats on 2000-day streak and 3500 strength classes! That’s 5.5 years!

  2. Deborah Brooks says:

I enjoyed that core program much more than her first 2. Your cookies look great and the sweater is fun. Hope you have a very merry Christmas

  3. Debbie says:

Congrats on your Peloton milestones! Deborah suggested Crush Your Core and I’m on day five of it.

To answer your questions, I do not have an ugly Christmas sweater, but have a sweatshirt I bought at Hallmark a couple of years ago. So far I’ve made chocolate amaretto fudge and pinwheel cookies. Today I’m making almond sugar cookies with glaze, a family favorite! BTW, your cookies look delicious!

Your weather does sound crazy!!! You ran in shorts!
Those cookies look great. I’m also way behind on Christmas prep- I might have to make some of my cookies after Christmas. And we’re also planning an apple pie for Christmas.
Those are huge Peloton milestones- congratulations!!!

I’m making the same apple pie I made for Thanksgiving and hoping to do a few things better this time. At least I won’t be doing it around a 7 hours conference call this time ….

That’s some impressive numbers there with 2000 days and 3500 strength classes!
Solo bake-a-thon is better than none at all! I used to love baking but nowadays I barely eat any sweet treats at all so I only make Swedish ginger cookies for Christmas and the occasional apple pie in autumn and that’s all. But the actual baking is quite fun. I think your gold sugar looks nice and festive!

  6. I love those wreath cookies! I’ve made four different kinds of sweets so far, and I’m hoping to do #5 tonight (it’s actually a repeat of one of the above, LOL). I delivered several plates of the goodies to my immediate neighbors this afternoon, so it’s nice to have that task checked-of my to-do list. I have to get some things wrapped or gift-bagged and grab a few more gift cards….almost there!

  7. Ok, WOW, those are big streak numbers. I get excited when my streaks are in the hundreds 🙂 Yes I do see we have similar ugly sweaters! The tinsel tree was falling off of mine so I glued part of it back on and also stuck some ribbon on (a new feature!). Overall it was uncomfortable to wear at work due to the fibers being synthetic. It made me sweaty!! I think the icing looks very pretty on the spritz cookies. I haven’t made those kind in a long time. Mine never turn out that pretty!

  8. Wendy says:

Your cookies look great as usual! I’m still baking too. I just can’t get motivated to do any holiday things this year.

Amazing Peloton stats!! Congrats on your consistency!

  9. Melissa says:

WOW what a streak!!! That’s amazing. Your cookies look so good — yum yum! Eggnog cookies sound awesome – I may need that recipe. My kids love eggnog!

  10. Jenn says:

I love the bakeathon idea, and started my own this year. It’s so fun. Your cookies came out great.

Love your thrifted sweater! So cute!

    And hi, Scooby!

Hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
