Memorable May Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would start by thanking you for supporting my fundraising efforts for the American Heart Association. Then I would ask you to remember the warning signs for heart attack and stroke and act on them. Don’t be too quick to dismiss chest tightness as heart burn or sudden nausea as something you ate. Calling 9-1-1 could save your life of the life of a loved one. ❤️‍🩹

If we were having coffee, I would ask if you’ve seen these live digital order boards at Starbucks. My office Starbucks doesn’t have one, but I’ve seen them at other stores in D.C. and NYC. It does keep me from wondering if they’ve remembered my order.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I usually joke that I have TSA Pre-check and Clear so I have time to wait for Starbucks after I get through security, but on my last trip home from Chicago it was no joke. It took over 30 minutes to get my coffee, and I only got it then because I became one of those people who asked the over-worked barista where my order was. The app told me it was “ready” after 15 minutes, but maybe that was based on time estimates rather than reality. Next time I will remember to send my mobile order to a less popular kiosk at O’Hare.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that while pre-paying for parking at the train station for my last trip to NYC, I discovered I could pre-pay for parking at my office and save $5.50 a day! That more than covers my daily grande Americano inlcuding tax and tip.

If we were having coffee, I would admit the instructions made me reluctant to give it a try. Is saving $5.50 worth the hassle of having to track down and interact with an attendant? Logically I knew it was, but for an introvert like me, the struggle is real! As it turns out, I can just scan the QR code at the kiosk—phew!

If we were having coffee, I’d ask if you’ve received any memorable junk mail. This piece caught my eye because of the mismatch between the return address (Falls Church, VA) and the postmark (St. Louis, MO), along with the fake handwriting. I guess the pitch wasn’t very memorable because the “letter” cuts off in the middle of a word in a middle of a sentence ….

Or maybe they didn’t remember to out more ink in the printer.

What would you want to remember over coffee?

If you’re looking for some memorable books, I’ll be sharing my April reads (and long list of my Kindle DNFs) on Monday.

Thirty minutes for a coffee? Wow—that’s dedication! Hopefully the wait was at least semi-productive (thank goodness for smartphones, right?).
We pre-paid our parking in Manhattan last Monday and it worked like a charm—saved us about $15 on the daily rate!

Oh wow, that’s great that you’ve discovered a way to save $5.50 a day for downtown parking. That’s significant! I’ve seen those loooong lines at Starbucks at the airports and it makes me happy that I don’t like coffee. LOL

  3. Jenny says:

I like how your coffee date is very coffee-centric. I have not seen those order boards, but I HAVE waited in a very long line for Starbucks at the airport.
That “letter” is hilarious. I love how it cuts off in the middle of a word.
Yes, let’s hope for a memorable (in a good way) May!

  4. Michelle says:

30 mins is crazy long and yet I coffee-fess that I waited about that long my last trek through Logan. You’d think airports would be slightly more efficient!

That incomplete letter is pretty comical. I feel like the junk mail has kicked into overdrive lately – but so far I haven’t received any half-written letters 😉

  5. Marcia says:

Yeah the Starbucks lines are O’Hare are ridiculous. I’ve pre-ordered there as well and the wait time is still crazy. That is one weird piece of junk mail!
