It’s the last Friday of August, so it’s time to gather at Marcia’s Healthy Slice to share our runfessions and cleanse our souls soles to get a fresh start for September.

Admitting My August Runfessions
After complaining at last month’s runfessions, I finally got through to the orthopedist’s office and was able to book an appointment. The intake questionnaire made me admit to a cold, hard truth.
How’s that for a runfession?
The main reason for my appointment was to get a referral to their running clinic—I have my first appointment there next week.
When I first saw ads for this t-shirt, I admit it resonated with how I was feeling about work—not the client work I love, but all the other stuff I could take on but ….
It seems to be available a lot of places, but I saw it here first.
I runfess, I am finding myself feeling the same way about running. Now that my left hamstring/ITB seems to be getting better, I probably could run longer, but I’m not sure I want to. My fall race calendar is empty. I could sign up for a race or two, but I’m just not feeling like I need to. 🤷♀️
This next runfession may seem inconsistent, but I runfess I ran every day this week. Why would I do such a thing? I had a long-delayed business trip to Copenhagen (rescheduled from April 2020) and was blessed with fantastic weather in this fantastic city for running. I promise I’ll share more photos 😉 but here are two from my first run on my favorite route along the harbor to the Kastellet (star fort).
On the right is one of the two bridges over the moat that surround the star-shaped fort.
I arrived Sunday morning, and literally wandered into Ironman Copenhagen—here I got to see the lead cyclists passing through Nyhavn—almost at the end of the bike segment.
Not the leader, but one of the first.
I runfess I did not envy the fact they still had a marathon to run!
Later I walked by the bike storage—impressive!
It was fenced off and well-guarded.
In retrospect, I think people on my train from the airport in the morning had watched the swim segment. It was cool being in the city for the all day event, but I runfess I had no desire to be participating!
Do you run every day? Would you be tempted to in a great running city?
I run 4 days a week at most. I runfess on vacations I run everyday. Like you it’s the scenery and the best way to see a new place.
Hope your body understands that you need to run.
I do enjoy races. But not everyone does. It’s not the competition. It’s the atmosphere and enthusiasm that I don’t experience when I run alone.
I do enjoy the energy of a race!
I don’t blame you for running daily in Copenhagen. It’s a beautiful city. How fun to be there for Ironman!
It was really need to stumble across!
If I felt like running everyday, I would. I don’t think I’ve ever felt like doing that. 🙂
I don’t think I’m going to do a single race this year, but hey, it’s not over yet. I have zero desire to go longer until it’s definitely Fall. Although when it’s not raining, we’ve actually been enjoying some nice weather.
I still have fond memories from my one day in Copenhagen! I don’t think it had such beautiful weather though. It was Fall. I’ve only ever been to Europe in Fall. Someday I really hope to correct that . . .
The weather in Copenhagen can be gloomy for sure — I really lucked out.
Wow, how fun to be in Copenhagen and even more when there is a big athletic event. I’m glad to hear your injury is improving.
I have no races for the rest of the year. I’m pretty banged up from the first half of the year and I need to let my body heal.
I hope you are feeling truly good soon!
One of the cities on my list that I have not visited yet. It would be fun to see the Ironman race. NO, I would not have run daily but I would have mixed runs and walks to see the city and take advantage of the weather. Hope you get some answers from the PT
My runs were really easy with lots of photo stops and pretty short, so that made them do-able.
How cool to be in Copenhagen for the Ironman!!! Yes, I would also want to run every day, but NO, I have no desire to do an Ironman. Spectating would be fun though.
I saw another saying that’s more applicable to me- it was something like “she believed she could but her cat was taking a nap on her lap, so she didn’t.”
Glad your hamstring is feeling better!
The cat version is good too!
The only time I run “everyday” is during my winter run streak, and then most of those runs are 1-milers. But, being in Copenhagen? Ummm, yes, I’d be exploring in the running shoes daily 🙂
Copenhagen is on my bucket list! I do not blame you at all for running there every day – what a lovely city! And how fun to catch part of the Ironman!
I’m glad your hamstring/ITB is feeling better!
Copenhagen!!! So cool! How long were you there for?
Those bikes are something else. I just see thousands of dollars behind that fence.
We’re doing a triathlon tomorrow in Davos. With bikes that are over 20 years old…. this is going to be interesting. 🙂
I was there Sunday to Friday — a long work trip for me, but I took advantage of it. 😉
I hope you share lots of photos from Davos!
There’s something about vacation (even the Florida sunsrises I know well) or new places that scratch the running itch. Loved your pics. Glad you got the referral you needed
Ah, Copenhagen! Beautiful!
I don’t run every day, exactly. I run/walk 3/4 days a week and walk the rest. But if I was in a great running city, you know I would be out there.
I hope you get some answers and some relief soon.
