It was another tough week of work, but I balanced long hours at my desk with taking a hip hop tour with Peloton. Starting my day with a solid workout programmed to a great playlist helped me burn off stress and keep a positive mindset.
Peloton Hip Hop Tour
Peloton has been celebrating Hip Hop’s fiftieth anniversary all year. Several instructors had new classes recently, so I decided to try them all.
I also rolled through my 2200th strength workout. I knew it was coming, but there weren’t any live strength classes that fit my schedule, so it was a 10 min barre class I took as a pre-run warm-up.
I’m racking up a lot of walks with Scooby.
Weekly Wrap
The weather bounced around from oppressively humid to amazingly nice. I took Scooby out on the nicer days, and also did a solo run in D.C.
Sunday: Core + 10 min LB + 4.3 Scooby Miles
It was a pretty nice day, but I had to get some work done to get ahead of a big deadline, so I took Scooby out for a run before dashing to the farmer’s market, and then settling in at my desk.
Don’t these mushrooms look like teed up golf balls?
Monday: Core + 20 min UB Strength + 3.25 Tread Miles
Selena’s upper body class was so tough! I was going to do a short lower body class before hopping on the tread, but my arms were too shakey to even hold weights any longer!
Tuesday: Corepower Yoga
Loving the August flow with so many hip openers and hamstring stretches—runner’s lunge is so hard for me!
Wednesday: 10 min Core + 10 min Barre + 5.25 mile Run
A solo run in D.C. is becoming my new Wednesday workout. For variety, I did my Tidal Basin loop instead of the Reflecting Pool loop I did last week.
I hope the commuters in traffice behind me appreciated this view!
Thursday: 10 min Core + 20 min LB Strength + 30 min Peloton Rides
I saved this LB strength class for my office gym where I have access to more weights—I used the 25s, 20s, and 15s. Denis’s hip hop ride was tough—his higher cadence cues always wear me out! .
Friday: Core + 10 min UB Strength + 30 min Bike Bootcamp + 10 min ALW
I decided to mix things up with Jess Sims’ Hip Hop 50 Bike Bootcamp. The class format was bike-strength-bike, with a typical Jess strength workout of a circuit and EMOM in the middle.
Saturday: 10 min Core + 10 min LB + 5.3 Scooby Miles
A cool front came through Friday that brought amazing weather Saturday morning! Even Scooby had more pep in his step.
A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.
Those mushrooms are cool looking.
Wow. So impressed with all the workouts you do.
Hope you have a calmer week.
They opened up into “normal” mushroom shapes after a few days — so interesting!
2200. WOW.
I loved the mushrooms. So funky. Funky fungi!
HH50 is “work” for me, so haven’t gone into the Peloton side. Will do this fall.
Oh, I hadn’t thought about the work connection for you. I’m all about the playlist!
I will have to try that Denis class, Haven’t done a bike boot camp in a while. Congrats on hitting 2200. We were gifted with some nice weather this weekend-wish it would last a bit longer
You always put together nice stacks with various workouts. I love it. And congrats on 2,200 strength! That’s amazing!
You had a great week! I’m loving the photos from your weekly DC runs. As always you had a nice mix of strength, cardio, YOGA… you’re doing it all! I’m glad you had some nicer days to get outside with Scooby.
I’m kind of scared of those mushrooms.
The 2200th strength workout! That’s cool. During how long time is that?
Those mushrooms certainly look like golf balls! I was wondering what it was before you pointed it out.
That photo from your morning run is beautiful!
Congrats on 2200. That’s an amazing milestone. What cool mushrooms! We’re bracing for some extreme heat this week and the media is really hyping it up. Love that tidal basin pic!
