Week four of Peloton’s 2020 Pelothon challenge was a sprint to the finish. The challenge goal was to take one of six specific classes. Sounds easy enough, right?
Anyone who’s ever organized a group activity will know that with about 270,000 people participating(!), it’s never easy! 😉
Pelothon 2020 Week 4 Workouts
Each Pelothon 2020 class was led by a coach from a different team who ran the class like a grand finale–talking about the phenomenal participation, the $1M Peloton donated to four different food banks, and the support members gave each other during the live classes and on social media.
Pelobuddy created this widely- shared cheat sheet
The challenge goal was easy, but people were still confused about the requirement. Which class do you have to take? One of these six, from the newly created Pelothon 2020 collection, not the ones in the “collection” for your Pelothon 2020 team. (Dear Peloton, that was confusing.) Do you have to take it live? No, that was last week. This week you can take it live or later–they are available on demand a few hours after they air live. As of Saturday afternoon, 40% of my Breakthrough Crew team (32,774 members!) had figured it out and taken the required class.
Is anyone else annoyed that the week 4 badge isn’t called “Peloton Week 4”–
or will we get another badge on Monday?
The big question now is, now what?
Weekly Run Down
Our weather was cooler this week, but that came with the price of a few rainy mornings. I intentionally broke my run streak on Friday and enjoyed riding my bike with fresh legs. I kept up my Peloton streak, including my streak of daily core classes.
Monday: 3,1 Scooby Miles + 40 min Peloton Strength Workouts
I didn’t have a new plan, so I started the first week of August the same as every week in July.
Who knew I could survive a 20 min core class?
Tuesday: 60 min Peloton Bootcamp + 40 min Peloton Strength Workouts
Took Scooby for a short walk in the rain, and then warmed up with Chase’s Pelothon 2020 strength workout before braving a 60 min bootcamp with Jess Sims. Since her workouts tackle core early on, my abs had recovered enough to do Matty’s 10 min core class as a cool down.
Wednesday: 6.2 Scooby Miles + 10 min Peloton Strength Workouts
I knew this was going to be the nicest day of the week, so I took Scooby out for a 6 mile run, stacking two Peloton Outdoor runs to get me through.
I also continued my core class streak.
Thursday: 4 Treadmill Miles + 40 min Peloton Strength Workouts
Thunder and lightning got me out of bed at 5:00 am, so I snuck down to the basement before taking Scooby out. I woke up with a core workout, then braved a Jess Sims strength workout. It was still raining, so I hopped on the treadmill for Becs Gentry’s 20 min Pelothon 2020 treadmill run and added another 20 min run to hit 4 miles. By then the sun was shining and I could take Scooby for his walk.
Friday: 30 min Peloton Strength Workouts + 20 mile Bike Ride
This was the day I broke my running streak. I knew the only way to do it was to just not do it, so I stuck to a walk when I took Scooby out and let that monkey jump off my back. I did three short Peloton workouts, put in a short “morning shift” of work, and then met Deborah for a bike ride.
My favorite “arms toning” class–
even though it started with 3 min of clapping!
Saturday: 30 min Peloton Strength Workouts + 35 Mile Bike Ride
Day two off from running with a longer bike ride planned–but first, my Peloton strength workouts.
We rode from our house to my Mom’s house, on a route inspired by the Old Town Conte’s ride. Since it was just us, I got to stop for a picture of this lovely view from an overpass adjacent the 495 Beltway. I never would have seen it without these bike rides.
Sunday: 6.3 Scooby Miles + 10 min Peloton Core Workout
I started with Chase Tucker’s 20 min Punk Rock Outdoor run, which was fantastic. I wanted to keep running with him, and just chose his most recent 45 min run– this R&B Treadmill Run. It was too mellow for what I was doing, but would have been perfect for the incline treadmill workout he was coaching. 😛
Thanks to Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down link up. Even if my weeks are pretty much the same, I enjoy seeing what others are doing.
If you do core exercises, do you prefer planks or crunches?
Another great week of workouts for you. Loving our bike rides. Thanks for keeping me a good clip this week.
It is so nice to get outside together! And I love your Coeur kit too!
Way to wrap up the Pelothon! The loyalty of Peloton enthusiasts is amazing. I think I enjoy planks and crunches equally. How fun to ride with Deb again!
Such a great mix of workouts for you this week – nice job! I love that you are loving Jess Sims bootcamp classes too 🙂
I’m sad that Pelothon 2020 is over, but I agree with you that Peloton could have done a much better job at explaining the instructions. I’m in a few Peloton groups on Facebook and I can’t even begin to tell you how many questions were in those groups!
I still can’t get over seeing your post in her IG story! 😀
Any FB groups you’d suggest? Deborah got me into the one with a core workout schedule.
I can’t believe how many people did the pelothon. Sounds like it was a lot of fun!
Jealous of your rides with Deborah! I wish we lived closer.
I didn’t realize how HUGE Peloton is. If we lived closer, I’d be joining you on the water. 😉
Wow, great job on the pelothon! I saw so many people posting their efforts for it and definitely had some envy.
It’s amazing how many people participated and posted regularly!
I love reading about those Scooby miles. He looks like he is ready to run more! I think the Peloton challenge was confusing too, but I am easily confused. Glad you got it in!
Finding my team’s facebook group made it a lot easier — and more fun.
Wow — TWO 60 min bootcamps on ONE day? I can’t even.
I’ve made it clear that crunches are not my jam. Planks are hard but they’re so much better for out bodies (although they can always be problematic, too).
There was a lot of rain here this week, but I enjoyed the cooler weather (while it was here).
I generally prefer planks too, but some classes have fun crunch variations I do like. Although I hate bicycle crunches!
I actually don’t hate bicycle crunches. I think they at least work something more than the superficial muscles. There are definite lots of planks in the Peloton workouts!
Congrats on the Pelothon! Sounds like it was a good challenge!
Scooby…the cutest running buddy 🙂
You’re a great role model for staying super active at home!
Aw, thanks. Scooby is a great running buddy as long as you don’t mind random stops. At least he’s gotten better about the squirrel sprints.
You get so much done, especially on a daily basis AND before the workday begins. Go YOU!! I didn’t realize the Peloton challenge was only for four weeks…any idea if they’re going to have another challenge happening? Jealous of your rides with Deborah. I’m due for a break from Gustavas…we rode Friday after work (17), Saturday afternoon (6), this morning (12) AND this afternoon (13)…38 total miles.
That’s a lot of time in the saddle! I don’t know how often Peloton does big challenges like this. I think the instructors are able to get back in the studio and film more classes, so there’s new content regardless.
This week was bonkers. You & Deb both have me singing Bohemian Rhapsody with your thunder comments
So glad you & Deborah can ride together regularly. Getting a bike is *almost* as impractical as getting a car, but I have been tempted. With the Shared Use Path on the new bridge, I could conceivably ride to mom’s.
NIcely done on the week!
But where would you keep a bike? 😀 Hang it from your ceiling maybe?
that and hauling it up 64 steps. Not going to happen, but I love the idea
Great job with the Peloton workouts. The challenge does sound really confusing! The rain this week was annoying and had me moving around some workouts. I rarely do crunches anymore, although when I do I really feel them! Planks are one of my go-to core exercises.
Sounds like a good week overall! I agree that the challenge was a little confusing this last week but it all worked out 🙂
You are crushing it!
I would crunch over plank all day long. I hate planks, and my foot just won’t tolerate them for very long these days.
Scooby always makes me smile.
You did some fun workouts this week! I also thought the Pelothon Challenge was confusing. I had to ask Kim to explain some of them to me. It wasn’t easy finding the classes that we were required to take. This is when a search option would have come in handy. 🙂
I hope there is another challenge soon. I liked that I got to explore other instructors and classes. And I am beginning to like the running ones too!
You sure keep busy with your workouts. Love the variety you do! I mostly just run and bike. LOL!
I like planks, need to get back into daily planking.
It sounds like you had a lot of fun with your Peloton challenge! I used to love doing planks, but they started aggravating my back so now I do a variety of other core exercises that my PT recommended.
Awesome job wrapping up the Pelothon! I’m really going to miss this challenge – it was so much fun. I’m going to have to remember to try Chase’s Punk Rock run!
