While parts of the country are lifting stay-at-home orders and allowing restaurants to open for outdoor service or at reduced capacity, the D.C. area is still a step or two behind. That’s OK, though, because the June Ultimate Coffee Date Deborah and I host is fully compliant with all social distancing guidelines–you don’t even have to wear a mask. 😉

Venturing Out For Coffee
If we were having coffee, I would ask what the stay-at-home/social distancing situation is where you are. I am still working at home and mostly staying at home otherwise, and probably will be for a while. For now I’m content with the status quo, but I’m so curious about what others are doing and how they feel about it.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you how happy I was to see this Starbucks ad in my Facebook feed! It’s not that I’ve been so anxious for Starbucks–our grocery stores have Starbucks kiosks–it’s that I’ve really missed going to my Starbucks.
There wasn’t a wait when I ventured out for coffee, but I thought these social distancing guides on the sidewalk were pretty clever!
If we were having coffee, I would ask if you started any new routines while you were staying home. Early on, I decided Saturday night was going to be “pizza night” even if I had to make it myself. I am not very good at stretching out the dough, but I have fun “decorating” with my favorite toppings.
So glad I still have our pizza stone!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you I finished two more 1000 piece puzzles since we last got together, including this fun cycling race one.
There’s a lot going on here–
some of it at least PG-rated.Â
What would you tell me over coffee?
Have you ventured out for coffee? Dinner? A hair cut?Â
We’re still pretty much sheltering in place right now and things were originally set to slowly open back up this month, but with the riots and protests going on, a lot of businesses have decided to delay that.
Those starbucks social distancing markers are cute! Good way to get the point across, hehe. I hope you and your family are safe!
Thanks! We are fine at home! 🙂
That puzzle! Is it supposed to be the Tour de France?
It looks like a fun one to do, haha! At least no big boring skies to deal with!
How long did it take you?
Some cycling event anyway! It was harder than it looks because there are no blocks of color — except the grass and the cars. It took a few weeks, but I didn’t work on it every day.
As of today Maryland is moving into Phase 2 but I heard each county can decide what they want to do again, and I’m not sure yet what my county is doing. Honestly I am fine with staying home longer and am in no rush to get back out. I am feeling really anxious about so much opening up while people are still getting sick. I know we need to start living our lives again but it worries me. Especially having a little one that can’t wear a mask and likes to touch/eat everything in sight!
Our infection rates are finally going down — hopefully that’s not just because people are staying home from the testing sites to avoid the protests ….
Oh that puzzle LOL, and that pizza (YUM!)! I have a pizza stone…it’s probably 20 years old and I use it all the time (and not just for pizza). Things are opening up in Iowa, but we never were hit as hard as the bigger metro areas (thank goodness). Our “curve” has flattened, and appears to be on the decline (no new cases in the past couple weeks, and over 86% are recovered).
No new case?! That’s amazing.900 new cases in Va yesterday …
We are in Phase 4; Chicago is still in phase 3. I haven’t gone back to my gym yet–I’m waiting until I can work with Sammy Jo. We are easing back into patient care at work. I’ll be back in the office fully in 2 weeks; but we are still staggering patients and doing a lot of video visits. I’m actually ok with it–I get more time with my patients!
That is an upside. We are still in stage 1!
Other than going to dr and dentist appointments, we are still fairly locked down. I do need a hair appt something fierce. I doubt we’ll rejoin our gym. We were hit hard by the economy. That’s a good looking pizza!
We are too. I’ve already paid for OTF classes, so those are sunk costs or a Coranvirus write-off.
Ooh venturing out for coffee sounds like an adventure! I am still comfortable going to nails or hair. I have appointments scheduled for next weekend so I guess I need to mentally prepare. I am going for a bike ride w a friend today so that’s exciting. Let’s hope things continue to move in the right direction
Oh, wow on your hair appointment! I think I want a pedicure more — I see my toes more often then I look in the mirror at my hair. 😉
Your pizza looks pretty darn good to me!
Most of my friends are meeting outside. That group can be up to 10 people. Personally I’m just not comfortable with it. I do have people in my life — other than my mom (as you can see, we’re not at all close to her) — who are at higher risk.
I’m ok with one or two, outside, with masks (even if I’m not fond of masks). Even though the case load up here is not that high.
I do think about what will happen with my mom as it gets colder, and we can’t really come visit (unless things change), but thankfully, we have months before that happens.
Our coffee shops are open (and have been I think). I may grab a coffee for an outside coffee date after running with a friend or two. I’ve been picking up coffee to make at home from a local shop but haven’t had someone else’s since my last run with friends on the lakefront on March 15. Crazy! Lots of things are boarded up in my neighborhood – mostly as a precaution.
If we were having coffee, I’d talk to you about the state of affairs in the world and my concern that many people will get sick b/c the focus is off COVID and about social sharing in turbulent times. We might need two cups!
I’d love to share a cup of coffee with you — or two!
I don’t have a designated day, but I usually do have pizza once a week – but I was doing that before the stay at home orders, LOL.
In CT we started phase one of re-opening on May 20 – so basically outdoor areas for restaurants, meeting with 10 people or less, etc. I haven’t changed anything about my routine and I’m still working from home and only leaving the house to go grocery shopping and for my daily walks. I may consider eating out at a restaurant next month if our numbers keep decreasing. Also, our OTF studio will most likely re-open this month but I’m still on the fence about going back. If I do, it won’t be until next month.
I used to have pizza pretty regularly, but usually someone else made it! I ask Cyclebar to keep my account frozen. With OTF I have a class pack, so those will just keep collecting dust.
Those little Starbucks cups to mark where to wait are clever!
Other than going to the grocery store and doctor’s offices, I hadn’t been anywhere until this week when I had to drop my ring off to get it repaired. They had strict guidelines in place and I had to call them from the parking lot so they could let me in. They even wiped my credit card down with alcohol before handing it back to me.
Thanks for the linkup and have a great weekend!
That pizza looks so yummy! I make homemade pizza pretty often. I used to have trouble stretching out the dough too so now I cheat – I roll it out with a rolling pin.
Our area of the state (PA) goes from red to yellow today. We are allowed to gather in small groups – socially distanced, of course. I am hoping for some small group runs with our running club. Nothing has been announced yet, of course and maybe group runs are several weeks or even months ahead but someday…
I’m going to have to get used to be around other people again!
We enter phase 2 on Monday and my big adventure will be going for a haircut next week otherwise I’m still staying pretty close to home.
That’s some puzzle! Would you believe puzzles are still hard to find online!
I’m so jealous of the hair appointment! I’m so glad I got puzzles for Christmas. I still have 3 or 4 yet to do.
I love those Sbux social distancing markers! So cute! I am getting some Starbucks today and i’m pretty stoked about it! Gorgeous puzzle. I need to start building a new one.
Yay for Starbucks — and the normalcy it represents.
Montgomery County is opening up slowly as well and I’m glad they’re going slow. We’re still staying at home too and ok with it for now. We’ll see how the rest of the Summer goes. That puzzle looks really fun, and challenging!
The puzzle was fun because there’s so much going on in that scene!
(P.S. Disqus still won’t work for me on your site. )
