Welcome to the December Ultimate Coffee Date! I’m going to go ahead and say it–where has this year gone? Can you believe we’ll be starting a new decade in a few weeks? Deborah and I appreciate that you are taking time to join us during this extra-busy time of year. December Ultimate Coffee Date
If we were having coffee, I would offer you a slice of pie–I think there’s a sliver of pecan and pumpkin left. We had three pies for six people–that’s my kind of math!
I added the stars later to avoid scorching,
but then they didn’t brown enough.
If we were having coffee, I would ask what your favorite type of pie is, or if you prefer cake. While we all want a variety at Thanksgiving, apple pie is by far the favorite. We used a variety of apples, most of which I got at a farmer’s market.
These farm-fresh apples have renewed my love for this fruit and smell so good!
If we were having coffee, I would you tell you that I resist all things Christmas until after Thanksgiving–#RespectTheBird–but with Thanksgiving falling late this year, I am feeling behind. Luckily I made a dent in my shopping over Thanksgiving weekend and Cyber Monday, but with my annual cooking baking next weekend I think to have to brave some brick+mortar stores this weekend.
I’ll be making the Eggnog Spritz wreaths again
–I need to make sure I have the cinnamon hearts for the berries.
What would you tell me over coffee?
Apple pie is my favorite.
Havenāt run in 10 days. That sucks.
My cat ran away while I was away but heās back.
So bad news. Good news.
So glad heās back!
Me too.
Your pies look delicious! Apple is my fave. I just finished the last sliver of pumpkin here the other day, despite sending most of it and the cheesecake home with guests. Holiday baking is so much fun!
I think I might have to do some baking this weekend. Canāt wait to get started!
Pie is my favorite, altho I’ve never been a fan of pumpkin! I know, who am I? I’m going to dig into the holiday prep this weekend. Baking and decorating, coming up!
I may do a bit of baking this weekend but Iām not ready to face the tree yet!
I got the bulk of my decorating done, but have not even started baking. We have our family Christmas at my cousin’s house next weekend, so I need to fire up that oven š I’d love your spritz cookie recipe…I have just a basic sugar/butter recipe I’ve used, but am always open to trying new things š
The recipe is in the post linked under the picture. Itās simple but perfect!
Actually, I prefer cookies and brownies mostly, but I won’t turn down pie.
I love apples; always have! Lucky to live in a state that grows quite a variety (someday we’ll definitely move away though).
My family doesn’t really exchange gifts (Hannukah not really being a major holiday) but we did get something for my parents. Won’t matter much to my father, but my mom had expressed interest in DNA testing so we got them a couple of kits.
Happy cookie baking (and hope the stores aren’t too bad, I mostly avoid them like the plague at this time of year).
Donāt tell Scooby but heās getting a DNA test for Christmas!
Even though all our dogs basically have been mutts, we just went with the Wonder Dog theory one of our pet sitters told us: I wonder what they are?
Lola is definitely a chi, but she’s way big for a chi. Chester was part chi. Bandit might be, and he’s certainly got JRT in him.
They cost too much $$ at the vet to spend on a DNA kit, LOL!
I’m curious what you find out about Scooby. He looks a lot like my SIL’s dog.
We also had 3 pies at Thanksgiving that I bought at Pie Life this year. I am actually a cake person so I was not too tempted. š You should come to our MRTT party!
Truth be told, Iām a true cookie monster at heart!
Apple pie is my favorite too, but I didn’t have to bake for Thanksgiving this year. Our dinner was organized by my nieces and I was assigned to make a roasted veggie dish that they like. I also transported some home-grown celery 2000 miles because they love that too! So much better than the California stuff you buy at the grocery store! I did have to make a pecan pie this week, because my youngest requested it for his birthday instead of a cake.
Sounds like a great holiday!
Of all the pies, apple is definitely my favorite! This year I had a slice of pumpkin cheesecake because the only pie option was pumpkin. The cheesecake was really good and not too “pumpkiny.”
#RespectTheBird, now that’s funny! š
I am not the originator, but itās a # that fits! Pumpkin cheese cake sounds good ā just a sliver. š
I would tell you that i didn’t have any pie this year. My favorite fall pie is apple but there was none to be had. I was going to make it, but then I broke my leg, and well… making homemade apple pie kind of fell to the side.
I do like pie and would love a piece right now.
Oh, you should get Little Man to make you one. Itās āeasy as pieā!
I’m so with you on #RespecttheBird – one holiday at a time!
Your pies look so good. My husband does the pie baking in our house and this Thanksgiving he went with a pecan pumpkin – one of my faves! I will also never turn down a slice of apple pie š
The pecan-pumkin combo sounds great. If pie was up to my husband, heād probably get apple pies from Mc Donalds. :-O
I love pumpkin pie!
I have to make some cookies for two parties. Likely to be no bake PB / Chocolate again because they always come out good and they’re delicious!
Sounds like a win-win with those cookies!
That photo of the pies – yum! My favorite type of pie is apple, but I also love sweet potato.
I honestly donāt think Iāve had sweet potato pie. I would love to try it!
I love pumpkin and apple pie. Although I made an apple crumble instead. Iām the same way – donāt like to start Christmas shopping until a after Thanksgiving.
So much deliciousness! :] Apple pie is my favorite, and those farm-fresh apples look amazing!! Iāve been eating a ton of pie over the last week, hehehe.
āāTis the season!
I love your pie math! I went crazy baking this year too and there were just 6 of us!!
I think we all want our favorite dishes even if thereās not so many people to share it.
Thanksgiving coming late kind of threw a wrench in things because I feel like I am so behind with Christmas stuff. I have all my decorating done but I am hoping to finish up shopping this week cus all our parties and gift exchanges start this weekend and I havent gotten those yet.-M
#RespectTheBird, I like that
Christmas really needs to stay in its lane – but someone said advent fell before thanksgiving this year, so I guess it’s to be excused.
Not a pie person – more for you!
