2019 Farm To Fork Fondo Fun

Now that it’s May, I really want to get some fun summer plans on my calendar. I know if I’m not deliberate about it, I’ll get stuck in the rut of my daily grind and feel resentful in July and August when everyone’s on vacation but me. One thing that I’ve come to look forward in the summer is a Farm To Fork Fondo ride.

Luckily for you, they have events from Maine to Kentucky and you can save 15% with coupon code COCO15.

This will be our fourth year doing Farm to Fork Fondo events, and I hope to do two separate ride–the Pennsylvania Dutch ride in August and the Shenandoah ride in September. There are eight events in all, including a new ones in Ashville, NC and Goshen, Kentcuky.

Each event has rides of varying distances and difficulty (typically from under 10 miles to close to 100 miles), and each ride is fully supported with rest stops at working farms.

Will ride for Whoopie Pie!

The mission of the Farm to Fork Fondo series is to highlight and support the symbiotic relationship between cyclists, farmers, and beautiful landscapes. The organizers achieve this by partnering with local farmers, and bringing cyclists and farmers together at gourmet meet-the-farmer dinners held the evening before each ride.

They also support local farm and charitable organizations with a unique competition. Volunteers from the organizations staff each aid station, and compete for your vote as being the most spirited, friendly, encouraging group. Cyclists vote for their favorite at the the end of the ride, and the reward money is divided accordingly. Last year they gave away $50,000.

The corn-y jokes got my vote!

I couldn’t love Farm to Fork Fondo rides more, and would love to see you out on a ride– don’t forget to use COCO15 when you sign up!

How cool that you’re thinking of doing two this year! It will be interesting to see how they’re similar and how they’re different. It sounds like there will probably be lots of good food at both 🙂

  2. Mmmm, whoopie pies! Nope, no vacation plans. Yes, I have definitely already had FOMO over other people’s vacation photos! Hopefully at some point we’ll go somewhere, even if it’s only for a long weekend.

  3. Laurie says:

Let me know when the PA Dutch one is. I will come out to support you! I have always wanted to be a spectator.

  4. Wendy says:

These races sound so much fun! I wish I lived out there because I’d sign up for one.

I requested vacation time for July and August and am currently battling with the office manager over that. Because who needs time off, right?

These, indeed, sound like a great time! It’s nice that they support local worthwhile causes, too. They sound like a similar format to Ragbrai, which is a BIG bike ride across Iowa every July…it has a different route each year, but each day (for an entire week) the routes take the cyclists through numerous small towns as they make their way across the state. It’s great for the local economy of all the towns that get chosen to be on the route, and especially for the “overnight” towns.

I love that you do these rides. Farm to Fork Fondo sounds like such a way to get out and explore on your bike!

I always love hearing about your Farm to Fondo adventures! I feel like this is a great event to not only explore new areas, but also take in some breathing views. I also love that it supports local farmers as well.

This is so so awesome! I could not be more in love with this idea. Exercise plus healthy and fresh farm food? I just wish they had these in Texas!

  9. We don’t really have vacations planned because we took a big trip for spring break, but I’m really hoping for some good weekend camping trips!

  10. This sounds like so much fun. I remember reading your post about it last year. I will check it out, for sure!

  11. 100 miles bike ride? Just wow!

This summer I will be running a few races. I will also make sure to enjoy my vacation.

  12. Marc Pelerin says:

That’s really cool! I don’t know that I could do a 100 mile ride, but hey, it’d be cool to train for it and try some day!

  13. Renée says:

I want to ride with you Coco!!!! Seriously this sounds so amazing! I wish we had something like this here in the Netherlands.

  14. runswithpugs says:

I need you to know that i live for your Farm to Fondo adventures. These are the coolest events and I really wish I could participate in any of them.

Our vacation plans are set and I am so excited. We are doing a road trip through New England. We usually do something a little more resort or theme park ish so this will be both different and amazing!

  15. This always looks like so much fun! Glad you’re planning to do it again this year!
