It’s that time of year, when people are making their holiday gift lists and checking them twice, and hoping that they end up on Santa’s nice list. This week’s Friday Five 2.0 theme is Five Items You’d Buy All Over Again, so I’m sharing five favorite items that would make greats gift for runners.

1. My Petzl Headlamp. I resisted buying a headlamp for fear it would give me a headache, but I got tired of how quickly my Knuckle Lights burned through batteries. I was surprised at how comfortable this headlamp is, and the batteries lasted through a whole season of winter running!
I actually bought this for myself and tucked it under our tree.
I think I will be buying this headlamp again because I can’t find mine. I had it two weeks ago ….
2. My Nathan Elevation 2L Hydration Vest. I originally bought my Nathan hydration vest for Ragnar, but I knew I’d also use it for cycling. It also is perfect for hiking–I wouldn’t have been able to hike from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon to the Colorado River without it. This style fits me well, and I love how easy it is to clean.
My Ragnar hydration gear.
3. Nuun Electrolyte Tablets. Another product I got hooked on when I was training for Ragnar is Nuun electrolyte tablets. They come in a variety of flavors, but my favorites are Tri-Berry and Lemon-Lime. They are not a significant source of calories, but they are perfect for my 8-10 mile runs, Orange Theory Fitness classes, and bike rides. The 12-tablet tubes make great stocking stuffers and are perfect for running group gift exchanges.
4. Compression Socks. I wear compression socks during races, for recovery after long runs, and on long flights. I have PROCompression, Zensah, 2XU and Lilly Trotters compression socks, and don’t have a strong preference for any particular brand. I do think PRO Compression has the most fun designs, and they often have discount codes and free shipping when you order from them directly.
Last year’s PRO Compression holiday design–aren’t they fantastic!
5. My Oofos Sandals. These Oofos thong sandals were the only running-related item on my wish list last year. My husband wondered why “flip flops” were so expensive (~$60 at full price), but I promise they are worth it. The Oofos website explains the design features and technology that make them feel so good.
Happy feet!

What’s on your wish list this year?
I always love the holiday designs of Pro compression’s socks!
The Oofos sandals are great I love them too!
I’m not sure I really have a wish list. I tend to get what I want (as does the husband) — maybe not everything, obviously, but still, plenty.
Great list, Coco!
I have a Petzl headlamp for running and love it! And….I might have just ordered the holidays compression socks!
Aren’t they fun!
Oofos have always intrigued me.
Maybe not worth blowing your budget for, but definitely worthy of a spot on a wish list!
Those socks are amazing and I loved the design this year. For some reason, the ProCompression never seem to come up high enough for me. I must have tall shins? Great list Coco!
I think I’ve heard others say that. Since I’m 5’1″ when I stand up straight I don’t have that issue. 😉
I just got some Oofos flip-flops, and I loooooooove them! What a great list!
Thanks! Glad you love your Oofos too!
Ooh, I love my Oofos, too! And YES to compression socks/sleeves. Amazingly, my recovery seems to be going smoothly from my marathon (other than the hip/groin still being a bit wonky), and I’d bet by Brooks on the fact that I had compression socks on the day prior (on that 8-hour car ride) and for a few days following the finish line. I still have not broken down and bought a headlamp….
Glad to hear you are feeling so good! I really do think compression socks help!
Oh my gosh, I love those Christmas compression socks! 🙂
I love my Petzl headlamp! And yay to the Oofos. I’m due for a new pair…
They have lots of colors and styles to choose from now ….
Yasssss to the headlamp! Best purchase ever. Those sandals look amazing…
Thanks for linking up!
I was always afraid that the headlamp would give me a headache too, but it’s very comfy to wear. My son loves hearing it too!
I love the design of those compression socks!!
Aren’t they fun! If I don’t find my headlamp by Sunday I’ll have to ask Santa for a new one.
I’ve been eyeing those Oofos sandals forever but just can’t bring myself to spend the money…I’ll be dropping hints for this one 😉
That’s what I did last year — hopefully you’ve been a good little runner this year. 😉
