Ultimate Coffee Date – The Christmas Countdown

Thanksgiving weekend always seems too early to start getting ready for Christmas, but by the next weekend I start panicking over being so far behind!. That’s where I am today, as we get together for our December Ultimate Coffee Date Link Up. Pour yourself a peppermint mocha–or a peppermint schnapps–and tell me I’m not the only one who hasn’t started making a list, let alone checking things off? I know my co-host Deborah is getting busy for Hanukkah over at Confessions Of A Mother Runner–she’s so good at entertaining!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that the one holiday thing I have done is to sign up for #AdventWord emails to get daily meditations on various Advent themes. It’s always fun to see the images people share on Twitter and Instagram with the #AdventWord hashtag.

If we were having coffee, I’d ask what your favorite holiday traditions are? I am looking forward to my annual cooking baking event next weekend. Last year my friend hosted in her new kitchen, which I loved so much we used the same contractor for our new kitchen! So of course I am hosting this year.

We always have fun decorating the cut-outs.

If we were having coffee, I would congratulate Deborah on being selected as one of the race ambassadors for the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run, which will be held April 8, 2018.

I look forward to working with them on the social media team for #CUCB2018

The Cherry Blossom 10 mile run has a lottery entry system, which is open now through December 11th– find out more and sign up here!

If we were having coffee, I’d ask if you plan to participate in the holiday #RunChatHunt photo scavenger hunt organized by #RunChat and supported by Altra and other great sponsors. Check out the list of items and entry details here.

If we were having coffee, I’d probably whine tell you about the two business trips I have this week–tomorrow I head to Boston for an internal meeting, and then from there I head to New Jersey for a client meeting. Although I always dread packing, the meetings themselves will be good, and I hope to manage a run in Boston. If I ran in New York City this time last year, Boston can’t be that much colder, right?

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that my Mom’s first week out of the hospital has been a good one. (My aunt came to stay with her and I have been visiting as often as a I can.)  She is getting stronger every day, and the excellent care and support she is getting is helping keep her spirits up. Her experience has reminded all of us how precious life is, how important family and friends are, and how simple acts of kindness can be so meaningful.

I love the idea of the Advent Word – I will need to sign up for that. And thanks for the reminder about the RunChat hunt – it’s always a fun one to play along.

One of your trips to Boston we must try to connect! I’m debating Cherry Blossom…

I’m so glad to hear your mom is doing better! That’s going to make the holidays much more joyful. Those Advent words will be much more meaningful this year.

One of these times when you come to Chicago, we need to meet up!

  3. I have never done the RunChat thing I guess I still have time to join in! The advent words sound like a great way to start your day. So glad that mom is doing better. Hope to see you soon for another coffee date

  5. Glad your mom is recovering well!

One of my favorite holiday traditions is going out for breakfast for dinner on Christmas Eve. We’ve been doing that for about 20 years now and we really look forward to it! 🙂

  6. Glad that your mom is doing well! Always good news.
That Advent Word theme sounds fun, will check it out. I totally plan on trying to do the #RunChatHunt this year. Always cool seeing what others post. I just tend to be so ADD, especially this time of year, hopefully I can stay on track. Ha!

  7. Glad to hear you mom is doing so well! Support from friends and family is such a huge factor in recovering. I like that Advent word thing…I”m gonna try to find that and give it a go.

Great! I’ll watch for your posts. 🙂 My mom has been so blessed with kindness – it really makes me realize how much it matters.

  8. Marcia says:

Great news about your mom. May she continue on her path to a full recovery. The Runchat Scavenger hunt sounds so fun. The cookie extravaganza will be amazing in your new kitchen!

  9. That’s wonderful that your mom is doing so well.

I bought frozen latkes from Trader Joes for next week. And now I have the brisket, but it’s amazing how that shrinks down when you cook it!

I hope your meetings went well (and you didn’t freeze too much — it hasn’t been great weather around here lately).

  10. Farrah says:

Your Christmas cookies are so pretty!! I hope you have fun at the cherry blossom run! I’m doing my first race since 2010 on that day too, but it’s just gonna be an 8k in my town. 😛
