Wishing You A Merry Christmas

I hope you have a Merry Christmas, whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Festivus, or just enjoy the long weekend! I’m exhausted from last-minute shopping, wrapping, baking, and cooking, but it wouldn’t be Christmas Eve if I didn’t end the day collapsing in the glow of the Christmas tree.

I’m stealing a few minutes from my family so I can join the
Weekly Wrap Link Up hosted by Holly and Tricia.

I started my Christmas weekend on Friday,
with a run to the Capitol to see the Capitol Christmas tree.

On Christmas Eve I wrapped up my baking.

First up, my upside down cranberry coffee cake for Christmas morning.

Then I made this Nantucket Cranberry Pie from The Pioneer Woman,
to join our traditional pumpkin pie on the Christmas dinner dessert line-up.

The last time I made this recipe, the cranberries didn’t peek through,
but I think they make it look more festive.

My daughter wanted to decorate gingerbread cookies,
so we broke out the rolling pin and decorations.

By Christmas Eve night all the presents were wrapped,
and there was no room at the inn under the tree.

Merry Christmas!

Just in case Holly and Tricia are making a list and checking it twice, I did keep up with my workouts this week:

Monday: Orange Theory Fitness
Tuesday: Quick Strength for Runners workout at the hotel gym
Wednesday: 3 mi treadmill/Core Power Yoga
Thursday: Indoor Cycling
Friday: 8 mile run
Saturday: Quick Strength for Runners workout at home

I’ll be sharing more about Quick Strength for Runners, but if you don’t want to wait until January to start a new fitness program, you can check it out via my Amazon affiliate link here: Quick Strength for Runners. I bought the Kindle version first for easy use on business trips, but then I decided I wanted the paper version until I learn the exercises. Thanks to Amazon Prime I ordered it yesterday morning and had it by last night–yes, even on Christmas Eve! If you don’t have Amazon Prime yet, check out the Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial.

  4. Like you, I collapsed into bed Christmas Eve night (late….technically EARLY Christmas morning), but I waited until about 20 minutes before the guests arrival to finish wrapping my gifts. EEK.

  5. I love the Pinoneer Woman! That cranberry pie looks delicious! Great job on all of your workouts during Christmas week!

  6. Wow I am loving the coffee cake I bet it was wonderful on Christmas day. We usually have cinnamon rolls but we didn’t this year. I was kind of sad too. I did get my coffee so all was good. Merry Christmas Coco thank you for taking time out of your day for joining us!

  7. I am always amazed by your pies ! I have no patience for baking….

Your baked goods look delicious Coco! You have pricked my curiosity over the past few weeks regarding this Quick Strength for Runners ….I’m going to have to check this out. It sounds like something that is easily incorporated into a busy schedule. Glad you had a wonderful Christmas with your family!

QSFR definitely works with a busy schedule. The plan is twice a week, and builds to 30 min. I did 3 rounds of the week 1 exercises, since I’m used to doing 30-45 min strength workouts, but that’s more than the plan calls for.

  9. Clarinda says:

Great job on your 8 mile run. The capitol tree looks magnificent!

I agree! I think the cranberries peeking through makes the pie look more festive. 🙂

  10. Great job keeping up with the workouts! This weekend was challenging even for me in that department.

I’ve looked at that book, but I really prefer follow along videos.

Your week sounds like mine. You did get in your workouts! I would love running to the Capitol to see the tree. What a special treat. I agree that the cranberries peaking through do make the pie very festive. I confess – I don’t think I own a rolling pin. LOL. Thanks for linking, Coco.

  12. I hope you had a very merry Christmas! Your baked goods always look amazing!

Quick Strength for Runners sounds great…definitely an area I need to work on!
