The Ultimate Coffee Date Labor Day Weekend

Welcome to the Ultimate Coffee Date Link Up, where we imagine that we are getting together for coffee (or tea, or your favorite relaxing beverage), and share what’s going on in our lives. It’s a chance to get to know each other better and support each other in all our endeavors. Since it’s no fun to have coffee alone, make sure you leave comments on other blogs in the link up, and don’t forget to visit my co-host Deborah at Confessions Of A Mother Runner.

We’d love for you to use our new badge in your coffee date posts–

If you are new to this link up–welcome! If you are new to link ups in general, make sure you check out these tips for making the most out of them.

The Ultimate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would have to tell you that as much as I’ve griped about my recent business trips to Miami, Miami does win the prize for cool skies.

On my last trip, I caught this view of the sunset
after grabbing dinner from Whole Foods.

Miami Sunset

I didn’t feel very safe walking to the waterfront,
but I couldn’t resist this stormy sunrise.

Miami Sunrise

If we were having coffee, I would ask if your kids have started school yet. Since my son graduated from college in May, this is our first year with nobody going back to school. I still have the urge to buy a package of college ruled paper and a some folders ….

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how much fun I had doing the Reston Half Metric Century ride with Deborah last weekend–yep, we’ve become friends “in real life” too! (You can read my recap here.)

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you what I thought about The Book of Esther and A Hologram For The King (you can find out in my latest book review post), and ask if you’ve read any good books this summer.

If we were having coffee, I’d ask if you have any plans for the rest of the weekend. I want to do something fun, but I’m not sure what. Explore a new bike route? Go for a hike? Try a new restaurant?

Yes back to school for 3 weeks already. Mine go back way to early imo. Those are beautiful skies. Enjoy the rest of this long weekend!

  2. I only have one in school right now. And he told me he doesn’t need any school supplies? Aye!

  3. I’m loving the new graphic. I can’t believe it’s September already. I laughed when I read you got the urge to buy school supplies even though they aren’t necessary. It’s such a dreaded task for me because if you don’t get them in June when school gets out and wait until school is back in, they are sold out of everything. Ok rant over. Enjoy your weekend!

    • Coco says:

Hah! And around here, MD and DC start earlier, so the shelves are empty by the time VA starts, but you can’t shop early because the teachers have such detailed requirements ….

  4. We were just talking last night about how odd it will be when no one is going back to school anymore! I have to savor my last few years. So glad that we have become friends in real life too. Have a fabulous weekend!

  5. So cool that you and Deborah live close enough to meet up! My neighbour across the street blogs, but she is in a totally different niche and we don’t really have a lot in common except the social media thing. It’s back to school on Wednesday for my three girls. My oldest is starting “Junior High” and my youngest will be in grade 1 – no more kindergartens in this house! This weekend we’ll be watching my nieces in a horse show and getting everyone some back to school clothes. What do you have planned?

    • Coco says:

It’s interesting that I find it so easy to become “real” friends with fitness bloggers, but it’s harder with bloggers in the fashion or home decor niches. That’s really not my thing, so I guess we don’t have the common ground to start from.

  6. Miami does provide some pretty sky pics 🙂 you got a couple good ones! I am loving the idea of this 3 day weekend. The long run is done and Tricia from Mississsipiddlin is here! So time to make some dinner plans 🙂 enjoy the weekend! and yes I still like new folders too !

  7. I like the new picture! I’m enjoying a weekend in Orlando and were going to end it supporting our Ole Miss Rebels in Football on Monday night. Then it’s a very long drive home. 🙂
I’m so glad I was able to have coffee. That Miami photo is so pretty!

    • Coco says:

Deborah and I had fun working together via Facebook Messenger and Canva to pull the new graphic together. Technology is amazing! Enjoy your time in FL!

  8. Trust me if you had been with me in Target yesterday as I was picking up the last of our school supplies your urge would have been quelled! People were in a complete frenzy! LOL! Those sky shots are so pretty. Enjoy your weekend!

    • Coco says:

Hah! True. It’s easier to enjoy the back-to-school frenzy from a distance, and without having a list of 32 things I HAVE to find by Tuesday! 🙂

  9. Enjoy your long weekend. It is not a 3 day weekend here in France, so back to work for me Monday. My kids are back in school already but I am happy, as they are. We needed some structure to our week !

  10. Sadly, this weekend is not about fun for me. It’s a quick turnaround to do some laundry, some food shopping, sleep in my own bed a few nights . . . we are supposed to have a little getaway in a few weeks & I really, really, really hope we can still pull it off!

It is always so wonderful to meet online friends in RL & your sunrise/sunset pics are glorious!

  11. Farrah says:

Such a gorgeous sky! <3 I'm back in WV this weekend visiting friends and have reallyyy missed all the gorgeousness out here! I'm hoping to make lots of new foods, get some work done, and maybe also some exploring of nearby places. 😀

I hope you have a fun rest of the weekend!

  12. Loving the coffee date fun! My plans for the weekend are basically to relax and spend time with family. Of course, there will be workouts in there. 🙂

  13. Congratulations on the Reston Half Metric Century Ride with Deborah!!! Looking forward to hearing all the details. Those Miami pictures are STUNNING. I especially love the one of the palm tree silhouette on the water. Thank you to you and Deborah for hosting coffee!!!

  14. We are in Healdsburg at a wedding this weekend. So much fun! It must be so strange to have no kids starting school after all of these years.

  15. Karen says:

I have to go back and catch your bike recap 🙂 That sounds fun!
Esther is one of my favorite Bible people ever, I bet I would enjoy the book if it holds true to the original:)

    • Coco says:

It’s more that this Esther was inspired by the Esther of the Bible, since this story takes place in the early twentieth century.

  16. Nice photos! Glad I joined the link-up after seeing your post on the Sweat Pink group – it’s fun to see what everyone has to say. 🙂

  17. Wow those skies are beautiful.
And if you get the crazy urge for school supplies find a Title 1 school. (I teach at one.) Many times kids there don’t show up with supplies, so unless teachers buy them out of there own pockets the kids are missing things.
Schools should be able to give you tax ID numbers for write offs too.

  18. vicki says:

Gorgeous sky pictures that is for sure! It is great when online friends become friends in real life! I didn’t get to everything I wanted to do over the weekend, but I did get some reading in… finished up the latest Harry Potter, that was really enjoyable!
