Shopping And Hosting The Ultimate Coffee Date

I feel like it’s been ages since we’ve had coffee! January is a long month, and we’re already six days into February. Make sure you visit my co-hosts Deborah at Confessions of A Mother Runner and Lynda at Fitness Mom Wine Country, and spread the love by commenting on other blogs in the link up.

If we were having coffee, I wouldn’t know where to start to fill you in on all that’s happened since last month!

Just last weekend I went on a post-blizzard shopping spree and got this new gadget to take my fitness tracking to the next level. 😉

Garmin Vivosmart HR

I had been toying with the idea of buying an Apple Watch again, but with rumors about Apple Watch 2 flying around, I decided I could wait a few more months to see what else Apple wants to put up my sleeve. I hadn’t even heard of the Garmin Vivosmart HR, but once I studied the reviews, I decided that this new Garmin device has features I want that the Fitbit Charge HR does not, so I added another Garmin–and yet another Garmin charger–to my collection. I’ll do a full review soon, but if you want to find out more now, please check it out on Amazon via my Amazon affiliate link.

I also went on a bit of a shopping spree at Athleta. Since I’ve been spinning 1-2 times a week, I really needed some more tops. Plus, new workout clothes are so motivating–I can’t wait to wear them!

That bright one has the softest fabric!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that my daughter is here for the weekend to see a hockey game. When we made the plans a few weeks ago I didn’t realize it was Superbowl weekend. I think its ironic that my daughter is coming to D.C. from Colorado to cheer on the Capitals instead of staying home to cheer on the Broncos!

If we were having coffee, I would invite you to check out the blog for the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run, and not just because I am the editor. Even if you’re not doing that race this year, you will see some great posts from some familiar faces

If we were having coffee, I would ask if you have any plans for Valentine’s Day? It falls on a Sunday this year, but Monday is a holiday, so maybe you are planning a romantic getaway?

  1. That’s the thing about Apple… I need to replace my MacBook, but there’s always a new one coming out just around the corner that you need to wait for…

    Thanks for the linkup!

  3. I am looking through the latest Athleta catalog and I have many items circled. My next purchase is the Iphone 6s {next week} and I can’t wait to use it for running. I am a Samsung user, but switching over, so excited!!
Since my team is not in the Superbowl, I will be rooting for Denver.
    Happy weekend 🙂

  4. Love Athleta. A bit too much!

Not a football fan & Mr. Judy isn’t that much into it either & definitely isn’t into this year’s teams, so no, I won’t be watching (or snacking).

A romantic weekend away . . . I wish. So many vacations I had to cancel last year. But I do have some plans — we’ll see how the weather cooperates.

  5. I didn’t know you were writing the blog for CB! that’s exciting and I will certainly check it out. Love the Athleta floral top. Looking forward to reading what you like about your new tracker. I kind of ditched mine a while back bc they weren’t doing what I wanted. Have fun with your daughter!

  6. Love Athleta! Just got their new spring catalog and I can tell my wallet’s in trouble 😉 I’m very curious to hear what you think of your new Garmin. I’m feeling a little meh about the game with my beloved Pats in it, but I’m sure we’ll end up watching. Have a great weekend!

  7. Curious to hear your thoughts on the garmin– I got rid of my Jawbone and haven’t wore anything in months but I am going to be marathon training and wondering if I need “something” Happy Saturday!

  8. You are so right that new workout clothes are motivating! I hadn’t really thought about it that way. Now I think I need to go shopping!!

  9. Marcia says:

Athleta’s latest collection is a strong one and I’m coveting many things. Not sure if I NEED them though, although that won’t stop me. Haha! Thanks for the linkup!

  10. I walked by Athleta a few days ago and was salivating over the window display. My wallet said cool your jets, mama! lol. I do need to check out what they have though! Those tops are super cute.

  11. LOVE your Athleta tops ! they are not in France so I stock up when I go back to the US. Maybe its a good thing they are not in France else my pocketbook would definitely take a hit !
And I completely forgot it was Superbowl weekend. LOL

  12. HoHo Runs says:

I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything from Athleta. I once received their catalog but haven’t seen it in a long time. I do like those tops! You are so right. New workout clothes put a little pep in the step. I will be watching the Superbowl but mainly for the commercials. I enjoy college football but never got into watching the pros. I can’t wait to hear how you like your vivosmart HR. Thanks for the link, Coco!

  13. Kelli says:

I wish my company observed all the government holidays. No specific plans for Valentine’s day although I am looking forward to some time with hubby after all of this travel. I love that flowered top you got! So cute! And awesome that it is really soft, too.

  14. Cute tops! I have a bunch of Gap Rewards burning a hole in my pocket. I might need to use them at Athleta!

  15. Karen says:

The new tops are very cute! I have always hoped to run the cherry blossom one year.
No football for me, but I bet I will be enjoying an empty gym!! Yay 🙂

  16. Jessica S says:

I love that bright top! So perfect for the spring that we’re waiting for!

  17. Steph says:

I absolutely love that bright print on your new top!

I’m interested to hear how you get on with the VivoSmart. I was considering it before I bought my UP3, but decided against it as I thought it might be too distracting to be linked to my mobile phone.

We don’t have plans for Valentine’s Day as such. We are travelling to Wales to watch a rugby match, and no doubt will have a nice meal in Cardiff while we’re there. I can’t wait!

    • Coco says:

I thought I wouldn’t care about the smart notifications but now I am hooked on them! I did trim them down to essentials so it wouldn’t be constant, but I love knowing I have a text/call even if my phone is in the other room being charged.

  18. I have the Fitbit Charge, I do wish it had some of the features of the Vivosmart, but either way it’s great to track your steps! I’m not really rooting for anyone, I guess the Panthers? Normally, Bret and I go away for Valentine’s weekend but we’ll be in town this year.

    Cuuuute tops!!

Oooooh-I didn’t know CB had a blog. ..I will check it out! !

No plans for valentine’s day! ! I was hoping to visit my dad but not going.

  24. I am doing the LA Marathon for V-Day! My husband is coming, too. And we are also celebrating our niece’s 2nd birthday. Lots of good stuff! I am curious to hear more about your Vivofit band. I love my Fitbit Charge!
