Favorite Fitness Finds Of 2015

Happy New Year! I hope you had fun ringing in the new year, but not so much fun that you are regretting it today! At least it’s Friday and you have a few more days to recover if necessary. I hope to be starting the year with a run or bike ride–depending on the weather.

Today the Friday Five link up hosted by Courtney at Eat Pray Run DC, Mar at Mar on the Run and Cynthia at You Signed Up for What?! kicks off 2016 with an open “fitness” theme. I’m going to double your fun and share my five favorite #RunChatHunt photos and my five favorite fitness finds of 2015.

I did pretty well with #RunChatHunt, although I run too early to find a Salvation Army Bell Ringer when I’m out running. Here are my five favorite entries.

I tried a lot of new fitness products last year, but only some had real staying power. Here are my top five favorites:

1. Garmin Vivosmart. I’m hooked on this activity tracker, even if I don’t always heed its orders to MOVE!

2. Orange Mud HydraQuiver. The Orange Mud HydraQuiver solved my hydration dilemma. I was fed up with my fuel belt, can’t stand running with a hand-held water bottle, and don’t want to deal with a hydration vest for shorter runs. The Hydraquiver has the convenience of a fuel belt without the hassle, and has three surprisingly roomy pockets that can hold my iPhone, car key, and more.

3, JoGo Grips. When the people from JoGo Grips told me about their product, I was struck by the simple solution to an age-old problem–keeping shoe laces tied. JoGo Grips are shaped straps that sandwich your laces with Velcro®-like material and keep them in place. They sent me a pair to try, and I haven’t had to re-tie my shoes mid-run since. You can see how they work on the JoGo website here.

4. Blue Diamond Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk. I don’t have any issues with cow’s milk, and I don’t think almond milk is healthier or more nutritious, but I got hooked on Blue Diamond Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk after reviewing it earlier this year.

It has become a staple for my overnight oats and baked oatmeal recipes.

5. Fit Brains. This relates to a different kind of fitness, but at my age I have to cover all the bases! I finally clicked on an ad for this “brain training system” and downloaded the free app. It has different games that focus on different skills–memory, focus, speed, visual, problem solving, and language. Fit Brains

I enjoy most of the games and may be tempted to upgrade when I get bored with the free edition.

  1. My shoe laces always untie I might need to find those ! Happy new year

  2. I always need to tie my shoes laces. I need to get that jogo. Does it work? I totally agree that you need to exercise your mind too.

  3. The hydration pack looks really nice! I’ve really fallen in love with my Fitit Charge…didn’t realize how much until I lost my charger and had a dead batter for 2 days!

  4. I’m very intrigued by those grips. I might need to look into them. Thanks for sharing!

  5. hmm, that Fit Brains app looks interesting! I love your Run Chat Hunt pics! so fun 🙂

  6. My favorite fitness find…hmmm…I loved that HiPZiPP hip pack that I got to try from SLS3. I needed something to carry all my stuff for the marathon and it worked out well.

    I love your run/hunt/chat post. I didn’t know that was a thing!

    Happy New Year!

  7. I’ve never seen those JoGo shoelace things before – what a great idea! I like the elastic shoelaces for when I’m doing triathlon, but don’t like having to switch them out if I’m wearing different running shoes. This seems like it’d be really convenient.

  8. Blue Diamond Almond Milk is my fave. Happy New Year to you, my friend!

  9. Sean says:

Love the #RunChatHunt pics! It always makes running a little more interesting. Also, awesome hydration system – sounds like it is the best of all worlds.

  10. I noticed your cool pack when we ran together recently! Speaking of, we should do it again soon 🙂 Happy New Year, friend!!

    • Coco says:

I really love it, and I can’t believe how easy it is to use and that my phone fits in the shoulder strap pocket. And, yes, let me know when you’re up for a dark o’clock run!

  11. Bri says:

I need to look into those jogo things! My trail runners are always coming untied.

  12. So I got the Vivofit and am loving it. Not quite sure what the huge differences are though!

  13. Jenn says:

The HydraQuiver is pretty neat! I’m not sure how I would feel about reaching around behind me for my bottle, but definitely a nicer option than a handheld or belt.

  14. Rachel says:

Orange Mud, yes!!! Happy New Year!

  15. jill conyers says:

I love the Viviofit! Some how it has made its way to my son’s arm and that is where it has stayed.

    Happy new year!

  16. Sharita says:

I so need to try out that hydration pack. I wasn’t a huge fan of the belt either so maybe this will solve my problems too!

Thanks for sharing and have a great new year!

  17. Oh that hydration pack looks awesome!! I started drinking unsweetened vanilla almond milk this year too and LOVE it – I was so surprised by how good it is, yum yum yum!!!

  18. I got a Fit Bit that I really enjoy. All your finds are quite cool.

  19. Tommy says:

I think I need a pair of those JoGo Grips and a Hydraquiver! While I’m at it, I think I also need to look into that app! LOL
