Five Things I Did This Summer

First, I have to say that summer’s not over yet–we still have 10 days left! But, with my vacation behind me and my son going back to school this weekend, I guess it’s not too early for a summer recap.

5 Things I Did This Summer

Since I kicked off this summer by breaking my foot on Memorial Day Weekend, this summer has not been what I expected. Still, I managed to do a lot of fun things.

1. Hiking in the Grand Canyon. You aren’t tired of Grand Canyon pictures yet, are you? If you missed them, I shared more from our hike to the Colorado River here and sunrise views here. We also went hiking in Flagstaff, and took in great views from the Elden Lookout Trail which you can see here.

2. Cycling to Purcellville. We still haven’t ridden the Washington and Old Dominion Trail from end to end, but at least now I can say I’ve ridden to the end of the trail in Purcellville. The bucolic scenery makes the ride seem like a mini-vacation.

3. Running in Philadelphia. This may be one of those workouts that I do regret since my foot was not healed enough for running, but if I had it to do over I’d do it all over again.

4. Sweating at Fitbloggin’. I guess this is another example of overdoing it, but I couldn’t resist working out with Cathe, doing Glider Yoga with Jamie, and running with Carrie–not to mention all the other fun I had at Fitbloggin’ in Denver.

5. Brunching in D.C. Right before my vacation, I was able to attend the D.C. Fitness Bloggers Brunch hosted by our very own CourtneyMar, and Cynthia! It was great to spend time with the fabulous ladies of the D.C. Trifecta and reconnect with other blends.

Definitely a great Summer! I loved following along and seeing your grand canyon photos 🙂 I haven’t been out there yet but it is definitely on my bucket list.

  2. Marcia says:

Look like you had a pretty great summer! It was way too short, imo, as it always is. Our 3 weeks in Europe has to be the highlight for me.

  3. Other than the foot — which is kind of a major exception — sounds like a great summer!

  4. You were quite the traveler this summer. It is always fun exploring new places. I used to live in Philadelphia and very rarely did I go downtown.

And this doesn’t include the three city tour I was on this week! It is funny how we spend the least time exploring our home towns.

  5. Fun fun FUN! Minus the foot thing. I need to catch up on your Grand Canyon posts. Haven’t been there in 15 years, would love to go back!

  6. It looks like you still did a lot of fun things this summer given your broken foot. Your Grand Canyon pictures are beautiful! I am hoping to go and visit there next year 🙂

  7. I had a great summer, too many things on my list to pick just one favorite. I hope your summer was good despite your foot injury. Hope things are well.

  8. Looks like some fun times. Those are some great pictures. Looks like you had fun.

  9. i am not tired of your pics yet – they are awesome! it was so fun to get to hang right before your trip. i’m obsessed with south block so i’m glad you are gonna enjoy your gift!!

  10. What a fun summer (except for the foot part) I am glad it did not get in the way of that fab hiking vacation! I love the beach so that is always fun for me! I really need to put FitBloggin on the radar, you make it look like so much fun! Have a great weekend!

Looks like a great summer. Kudos for not letting your foot get in the way of having a lot of fun! I’ve enjoyed reading about your trip to the GC!

  12. We took the boys to the Grand Canyon when they were young. My youngest, who is now 16, says he doesn’t remember going there. That makes me sad! I’d love to go back. And there is that rim to rim race…

  13. I’m still digging your Grand Canyon trip, and sad that I missed the blogger meet-up in DC!

  14. Wow, you had an AMAZING summer!

  15. Love that a broken foot didn’t slow you down this summer. And I really need to get myself to Grand Canyon!!

  16. I really hope I get back to Fitbloggin soon, such a great time!
