God In The Mix

Recently life has given me opportunities to practice praying, not worrying. While I am getting better at it, I get stuck when I don’t know what to pray for.

As I struggled with my inability to formulate a prayer, God answered that prayer by reminding me that I don’t need to know the right words. I can simply call on His name and the Holy Spirit will do the rest.

Psalm 120 starts with this verse:

I call on the Lord in my distress, and he answers me.

And Psalm 145 reassures me in verse 18:

The Lord is near to all who call on him.

On that day when I didn’t know what to pray for, I knew I wanted God involved in the events that were unfolding. I wanted God in the mix of the messiness of my life. So I prayed for God to be present, I called on God’s presence, and I called out for God.
