How To Avoid Eating Halloween Candy

What The Mouse Didn’t Eat Wednesday

I know many people dread Halloween, especially if they are trying to stick to a healthy diet. I used to be tempted by Reese’s peanut butter cups, but now I prefer dark chocolate or something with salted caramel, so I usually don’t care for fun-sized candy bars. If you are still wondering how you will get through the day–or how to resist the leftovers people will bring into the office–this picture might help you avoid eating Halloween candy.

Last winter, we had a mouse (mice?) in our pantry. When I was cleaning off the shelves, I discovered this pile on the top shelf, behind our baking supplies. Nearby was an empty bag of holiday M&Ms that we never got around to using in our Christmas cookie baking.

As you can see in the picture, the mouse ate the chocolate centers, but left the candy coating shells. The mouse who nibbled through a plastic bag decided that the candy coating shells were not edible. Now if that isn’t scary ….

Whenever I am tempted by M&Ms I think of this picture, and remind myself:

If it’s not good enough for a mouse, it’s not good enough for me!

Have you ever had a mouse in your house?

Are you tempted by Halloween candy?

    OMGOSH EW
    yes
you know have me visualizing and wondering if that would JERKY-DETER ME?
    probably not 🙂

  2. Ewww. That’s pretty scary.

I’m pretty good at avoiding Halloween candy. The best thing about becoming a candy snob. Although I have a friend that bakes and usually makes homemade chocolate stuff and I have no self control with that. Homemade gets me every time.

I usually go for homemade stuff too, especially when a friend makes me my favorite cookies! (Ahem, Beth!)

Well at least those “CC” cookies are worth the cals. And I am just now noticing one reason those must be so special to you CoCo of the double “C” name 🙂 You’ll see some of those soon….

Ick!! I don’t mind mice as long as they are outside!!!
Funny that they didn’t eat the candy shell – that would make me stop and think, too.
I’m not as tempted by Halloween candy as I used to be – 1 or 2 little pieces and I’m usually good.

YIKES! Now THAT is scary…. but funny. My mice love coffee beans.

  5. I never thought about temptation or being tempted by Halloween Candy until I started caring about my health. I won’t be having candy tomorrow, but perhaps a sweet GY bowl 😉

  6. No candy temptations for me!! I haven’t eaten Halloween candy in YEARS – Like 11!!!! How nuts. No cravings for it at all either. It’s so unhealthy and since I have intolerances to pretty much ALL FOODS, I know if I ever did eat something… Mmmm Reeses Pieces, lol, I would NOT feel so hot a few hours later! BLAHHH!

It’s awesome that you snapped a pic! I’ve told the story of your candy-mouse to family and co-workers. It’s shell-shocking. 😉

haha.. My dog doesn’t like bread, so does that mean bread isn’t good for me?
