A Running Tour Of Boston With Run Boston

I love when a business trips takes me to a great city like Boston, and it’s even better when I have time to get out for a run and explore the city. Last week I was lucky to go on a more official running tour of Boston, when the conference I was attending arranged for a group run led by Run Boston. It was a great way to start the day, see the city, and meet other people who didn’t let the late-night bourbon tasting the night before get in the way of a 6:00 am run.

We met in a hotel meeting room, organized ourselves into smaller groups based on pace, and headed off with our fearless leaders. Our guide took us on a 5k-ish loop from our hotel, and shared interesting historical and cultural tidbits about different sites as we ran.

Do people still read Make Way For Ducklings to their children?

It was by far my favorite legal conference activity ever! I think the whole idea behind Run Boston is brilliant, and I would love to see similar businesses in other cities.

Have you ever taken a guided walking tour?

Does your city have a group that offers running tours?

I’m from Boston but I would still like to do that tour. Looks like so much fun. I grew up on Make Way For Ducklings. We would also take a field trip to the swan boats and read the book 🙂

Very cool. I think running parts of the Boston marathon course would be such a cool experience.
The only work business trip I took was to Appleton, WI, and I ran through their campus area, which was fun.

I think it’s neat that the finish line is permanently painted on the street. Helps you realize how much the marathon means to the city.

I would love to do a running tour like this! I went to Boston for the first time in March for work, but really want to go back as I didn’t get to see/do anything.
