September Goal Setting For A Fantastic Fall

Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer around here. My kids are back at college, local schools start this week, and all of my clients will be back from their vacations and ready to tackle their year-end projects. It feels like a good time to set some goals to rein in some of my summer slacking and prepare for a fantastic fall.

goal setting

  1. Leave the house by 7:30. This summer I expanded my morning Facebook and blogging time, often leaving the house much closer to 8:00 than 7:30. While summer traffic let me get away with it, I know traffic will suck if I leave the house after 7:30 once schools and Congress are back in session.
  2. Do yoga once a week. I know my body needs yoga. I actually enjoy doing yoga. So, why did I let yoga drop off my summer fitness schedule? It’s time to put Rodney Yee back into my weekly rotation.
  3. Eat more veggies and fewer chips. Now that my carnivore son is back at college, I can fix more veggie-centric meals and I have no excuse for keeping chips in the house.
  4. Go to bed before 11 pm. Since my son is back at college, I can’t use waiting up for him as an excuse to stay up late. My alarm goes off at 5 am, so I should go to bed at 10 pm, but getting to bed by 11 pm will be an improvement.
  5. Limit screen time. I start my day on Facebook, spend all day in front of my double computer monitors, and end my day on Twitter. My eyes are protesting and my brain needs a break from all of this digital input. I’m not sure how or where to trim my screen time, but it’s got to happen.

Does your routine change in September?

Do you have new goals for the fall?

Oh I need to add going to bed before 11 on my goal list! More sleep would be a good thing!

  2. I think I will join you on #3!!! I love chips and could eat them every day if I let myself!!!

  3. I'm with you on Yoga. I need to go to a class soon! I'd like to try the Runner's Yoga 🙂

I totally need to join you on the more veggies thing!

I need to get back into both a work schedule and a workout routine – I've been totally slacking since my kids were home with me. It's good to get them back in school…

  5. It is nice to relax schedules in the summer, but it's also nice to get back to a better routine!
