Be My Running Partner

Join Me On My Mezamashii Run

My friend Sue calls them “run forever” runs. Mizuno calls them “mezamashii” runs. It’s those runs that make you feel glad to be alive, when everything feels great, when you feel like you could run forever. I had one of those runs this weekend, and I’d love for you to be my running partner and join me on my mezamashii run.

I’m wearing my Zensah compression socks and new Mizuno Wave Sayonara for performance and visibility for our o’dark-thirty start time. ๐Ÿ™‚

Even though it is late August, it is cool (in the low 60s) with low humidity. Perfect weather and a beautiful sunrise set the stage for a brilliant run.

This is the view from our starting point on the Mt. Vernon Trail.
I think you will understand why it is my favorite place to run.

Mezamashii Run

We are only 3/4 mile into our run, when this sky catches our attention.

The National Park Service is repairing some of the wooden bridges on the trail. There are a few places where we are diverted onto mulch paths, but about 3 miles into our run we are detoured through an adjacent neighborhood.

The detour lasts about a mile, and then we are back on trail. I think this bridge was redone not too long ago. I love how the sunlight–and the river view–peeks through the trees.

Mezamashii Run

While we really do feel like we could run forever, we force ourselves to turn around here.

Mezamashii Run

We puzzle over this banquet. Have we found The Giving Tree?

Mt. Vernon Trail

Ferrero Rocher chocolates, oranges and apples, a bottle of soda (?),
sliced cantaloupe, Hershey Kisses, grapes, peaches

We make one more photo stop on the way back. This marsh just looks so peaceful!

We hit 10 miles before we reach our starting point
but since we are still feeling strong, we keep running.

Thanks for joining me!

Gorgeous doesn't even begin to describe that run. Love it. I wish you knew the story behind the picnic. So curious.

The trail is beautiful! How do you do trail safety? Please do tell.

    • This is a busy path, so I\’m not too concerned. I do pay attention to my surroundings and re-route if I don\’t feel comfortable. There are other paths where I would not run alone because they are less busy and more isolated.

  7. Thank you for letting me tag along – what a gorgeous run!!!

That looks like a great place to run! I have a dirt road near my house that is my favorite place to go. Interesting banquet pic! I have been running 30 years and have yet to try compression socks, but I think I would like to!
