Swedish Spritz Cookies Recipe

Whenever I travel I try to catch up on my magazine reading. I usually have a few Self and Good Housekeeping issues to catch up on because I tend to read blogs more than magazines these days. For my recent trip to Chicago I grabbed the March issue of Self, which was bundled with an Easter-focused issue of All Recipes magazine.

One section of All Recipes had recipes for hard boiled eggs that went beyond the usual egg salad. I was surprised to see a cookie recipe that used hard boiled egg yolks for the batter, and was intrigued enough to tear out the recipe and try it at home.

Swedish Spritz Cookies

The cookies turned out great and since the batter doesn’t include any raw eggs, I could lick the beaters without fear!

Licking Batters

Mmmm!

Have you ever baked with hard boiled egg yolks?

Do you still read magazines?

I have never cooked with hard-boiled egg yolks in baking recipes, but have seen such recipes in one of my cookbooks. I still read magazines, not so many blogs (present company excepted :-)), but often look for recipes on-line…and still enjoy using and reading/leafing through cookbooks.

I really love magazines – I subscribe to four monthly health/fitness ones. I spend so much time at my PC that relaxing with a mag on the sofa or in bed is a real treat.

My mom use to make these when I was a kid. So happy to find the recipe. These are the best spritz cookies ever.
