My Fitness Gift Wish List For Runners

Over the past few weeks, I’ve seen lots of blog posts with great fitness-related holiday gift ideas. The Garmin Forerunner 10 made many “Top 10” wish lists for runners, and it really was the first thing on my list. Other than that, I am pretty well-stocked with fitness gear, but there are still a few things that I want. The problem is, I don’t know where to find them–can you help me?

1.  Something to protect my earbud cords and keep them untangled that is easy to use.

I have several things like this, but they are not convenient. It takes forever to wrap/unwrap the cord. When I tried keeping the cord wrapped like this in my purse I missed calls while trying to get the ends free!

2.  Wireless headphones I can use on the treadmill. I hate having to make the television REALLY LOUD so I can hear it over the noise of the treadmill. I’d like a wireless headphone set that uses earbuds, but I’ve only been able to find big ones like this.

Those just won’t work for running!

3.  Running shorts with a gripper bottom hem. I used to blame my thighs for making my shorts ride up, but now I blame the designers/manufacturers. A few years ago I found shorts that have a bottom hem with a rubberry/grippy material that keeps the shorts in place. Those shorts are just about worn out and I have not been able to find replacements.

Every time I am in a running store I check out the bottom hem of every line of shorts, but so far the only shorts I’ve found with a gripper hem are padded bike shorts.

Can you help me out?

Is there something you’d like to have that you haven’t been able to find?

does that make me a runner?!

  2. Steena says:

I agree with the ear buds thing, mine are always tangled. But I buy the cheapest ones because I know they constantly need to be replaced from the abuse I give them.

My Zippearz lasted for over a year until they got caught up in Tiger Lilly's excitement to go out and the cord ripped right out of the ear bud!

I wear headphones on the TM, because earbuds just don't stay in — I bought a pair at Target that have a 20' cord, so it easily reaches my dvd player.

  4. Thanks for sharing my gift guide! I like the earbud holder – great idea!

  5. Great list! There's something for everyone. Thanks for the link love! 😉

  6. Yum Yucky says:

my kid has had his Garmin for 2 years now. The beeper will only work sporadically anymore. I'm bracing for when he asks me for a new Garmin. I know he's gonna….

    • Coco says:

Well, at least the new one is "only" $125. But it may not have all the fancy features a rock star track star needs.

  7. I can't help with the 2nd two but the first one I can! Use one of those binder office clips. Here's a link on my old blog where I shared how I use it to keep my cords tangle free. http://www.faithfitnessfun.com/10850/bits-and-pie… I spread out my fingers and then loop the cord around all four, pull out my fingers, clip, and it works every time.

  8. Wireless headphones would be a great idea!!
