I am always on the lookout for new healthy snacks, but often put things back on the shelf once I read the ingredient list or nutrition information. When I first spotted Glenny’s Fruit & Nut Bars a few weeks ago I was pleasantly surprised by both, and put two boxes in my cart since they were on sale.
I have tried both the Cherry & Almond and the Fruit & Nut varieties. As you can tell from the pictures, they are chock full of nuts, seeds and fruit bits, held together by a bit of honey and brown rice syrup.
The ingredient list for the Fruit & Nut variety is pretty simple:
RAISINS, PEANUTS, HONEY, APRICOTS, BROWN RICE SYRUP, CRISP BROWN RICE, WALNUTS, DATES, BRAZIL NUTS, SUNFLOWER OIL (SUNFLOWER OIL, ROSEMARY EXTRACT, TOCOPHEROL).
At 130-150 calories in a 1.1 oz bar, they are calorie-dense, but that is normal for nuts and dried fruit. I try to eat them slowly and savor every morsel, and they are satisfying.
If you have certain dietary preferences/requirements, you might want to know that, according to the Glenny’s website, the Fruit & Nut Bars are:
- Non-Dairy
- Gluten Free
- All Natural
- Certified OU Kosher
- Low Sodium
- Non-GMO
These bars will make a great addition to my emergency snack supply at work (joining the 100 calorie packs of Blue Diamond® Almonds and Cliff® Chocolate Brownie Z-Bars), and will be good for a light pre- or post-run snack.
This is not a sponsored post. I paid for my Fruit & Nuts Bars and sampled them at my own risk!
Have you tried any new snacks lately?
