(Almost) Wordless Wednesday (The Williamsburg Bridge Edition)

I am hesitant about running outside when I am travelling,
but since I did this route last year, I packed my running gear.

I walked a few blocks to the path along the river.

I knew I could run to the Williamsburg Bridge.

It was amusing to see the old Domino Sugar plant across the river.

When I finished my run, it was fun to look back and see how far I’d gone.

Of course, I stopped at Starbucks for a grande bold and some chocolate milk to refuel.

it may sound silly but this is one of the things I admire about you too.
    you are sooooo flipping busy.
    you make no excuses.
    you fit exercise in.
    always.

I have never had chocolate milk after a workout, but I've been hearing a lot about it lately from many people… might have to try it. I definitely do go out for runs alone when I travel – it's one of my favorite ways to see other cities (new or not)… early in the morning when the city is "getting ready for the day" 🙂

great run! looks like a fun place to go for a route. Love that you stopped at starbucks!

  4. I love running when traveling. It's such a great way to check out a new city. You got some great shots!

  5. I agree with Miz – you motivate me to not fall into the 'I'm too busy" excuse trap. I love that you fit exercise in on a business trip AND that you also fit in some fun time on business trips.

No, I'm not a big chocolate milk fan. I'd rather refuel with the healthy fat and protein in some peanut butter.

My husband and I definitely run while we travel! We usually have a training plan to follow, though, so that helps keep us accountable.

Love the photos from your run!

I always run when traveling–it's the best part! NYC is also one of my favorite locations for a run. Glad you enjoyed it!

Do you run alone when you travel? Yes, I do. I love bring my garmin 910 along an getting in mileage in someplace new.

Have you tried refueling with chocolate milk? Nope, I eat and drink only a plant-based diet. so my favorite chocolate refuel drink is Dark Chocolate Coconut Water.

It really has become the one thing I do for myself (especially if you count the post-workout coffee as part of the working out!) so I want to fit it in

It's always about Starbucks when I'm travelling!

  11. I love to run when I travel as I like exploring new places. Your recovery fuel is the same as mine!

  12. David H. says:

You hesitate to run outside if it's raining 30 miles away. :p

  13. I'm always too nervous to run alone when I travel. I will always opt for the hotel gym and boredom but safety. I used to drink c milk after a run, but in the summer I always forget to take a way to chill it

I used to never run outside on a trip but I've gotten a bit braver if I know there is a route where other runners will be out (like this one).

Starbucks is such a great treat after a hard workout! 🙂
